About us

From Homemade Bird Rings to a Full-Fledged Online Petshop
LC Birds & Pets began in early 2020, right in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a simple need — sourcing bird leg rings — quickly grew into a trusted name among Namibian bird breeders and pet lovers.
At the time, importing leg rings from South Africa became impossible due to lockdown restrictions and the essential goods list, which did not include markers or tags. Faced with this challenge, we started making our own. Using copper and aluminium pipe, each ring was hand-crafted — cut to size, ID stretched where needed, polished on a rubber wheel to eliminate sharp edges or debris, and finally stamped with a punch set according to customer requirements.
As soon as the regulations relaxed, we resumed importing coloured aluminium rings from South Africa — but that supplier soon closed down. So, we took the next step and now import rings directly from the factory, ensuring quality, consistency, and better prices for our customers.
To meet growing demand, we also invested in a pumped solid-state laser machine to engrave rings locally with precision and speed.
With the sale of bird rings came an expanding network of breeders. Naturally, this led to offering more: we began buying and selling birds and chicks, and supplying feed and essentials to meet the needs of our growing community.
Our Inspiration
What inspired us then — and still inspires us today — is the joy of being able to help people in need with good and fast service. Whether it’s finding the right ring size, sourcing healthy birds, or simply offering honest advice, we’re here to serve with care, efficiency, and a personal touch.

What Makes Us Different
What sets LC Birds & Pets apart is that we didn’t start as a shop — we started as bird farmers. That experience makes all the difference. We understand, firsthand, what breeders need to raise strong, healthy offspring and how important reliable, quality products are in the process.
We don’t just sell pet products — we offer real solutions, backed by practical knowledge and a deep passion for birdkeeping. We work closely with a trusted avian vet, who visits at least twice a year to perform general check-ups on all our birds. Health, welfare, and responsible breeding are at the heart of what we do.
For us, it’s not about chasing profit. It’s about providing the best product, the right solution, and honest guidance to the people who trust us.
Our ring sales also give us a unique overview of the local bird farming scene — we get to know which farmers are breeding which species, and what chicks are available for hand-rearing. This helps us support our customers more effectively and connect breeders to the right resources when they need them.
Our Values
At LC Birds & Pets, we are guided by three core values: honesty, care, and quality.
Honesty is at the heart of everything we do. We’re open and transparent with our customers, whether it’s about where a chick came from, the breeding history of a pair, or the real condition of a bird. We only recommend trusted sources, because we know the breeders — and we know their birds.
Care is something we practice daily. We don’t rely on hired help to “check on the birds.” Every bird is personally fed, inspected, and handled by us. We believe that close attention and hands-on care are the only ways to ensure the health and happiness of the animals we work with.
Quality is a promise. Whether it’s our custom-made leg rings or the birds we raise and sell, we hold every item to a high standard — the same standard we’d expect for our own aviary. If we wouldn’t use it ourselves, we won’t sell it.
